100th – 91st

100th – Italy – 2006

Whilst perhaps not one of the Azzurri’s greatet designs, this one no doubt collected votes due to Italy winning major silverwear for the first time since 1982.

99th – England – 2010

Unlike the Italy shirt, this one is not associated with an great performances. England scraped through a group made up of USA, Algeria and Slovenia, before being hammered by Germany in the 2nd round.

The shirt itself is clean, and part of the wonderful Tailored by Umbro range.

98th – Netherlands – 1978

One of many classic dutch shirts, they wore several variations on this adidas shirt with black trim and collar from 1975 through to 1981 including at the 1978 World Cup final.

97th – Argentina – 2002

A commonly used template at the 2002 World Cup including the likes of China, South Africa and Turkey. Argentina will always manage to pull it off better than most with the magnificent navy, light blue and gold details.

96th – DR Congo – 2005

Since changing their name to the Democratic Republic of Congo shirt designs seemed to be picked on an almost match-by-match basis. This is the first of the designs by Mali-based Airness who supplied many african sides aswell as Premier League side Fulham.

95th – Wales – 1984

An often overlooked Wales shirt, this one was worn during the 1984 British Home Championship win over England, and the famous 3-0 win over Spain in 1985.

94th – Japan – 2019

Whilst spewing out tedious template shirts for the rest of the world, Adidas have a knack of producing special shirts for Japan. First worn in a World Cup qualifier with Kyrgyzstan in November 2019, this shirt was never seen at a major tournament. It saw several editions of the Kirin Cup, the EAFF Cup and a slightly modified version without the FA’s crest was worn as Japan played host for the 2020 Olympics.

93rd – Argentina – 1994

Adidas ruled the template shirts in the 90s, and once again the colour combinations worked perfectly for Argentina. Whilst this shirt saw two major tournaments, the 1994 World Cup and the 1997 Copa America, Argentina underperformed in both and it is better known for Maradonna’s bulging eyes celebration against Greece before he was sent home for failing a drugs test.

92nd – Norway – 1997

A quite stunning Norway away shirt, when bold designs were at their peak. Quite what the umbro designers were on I don’t know.

For a more detailed review of this shirt check out Joe’s shirt on Global Obsession.

91st – Peru – 1979

Peru shirts are instantly recognisable for their sash designs. The designs remained very similar throughout the 70s and 80s so I have lumped together some of the votes.
