Yemen
Yemen – Home – 2012
Another shirt direct from the kit man, this time Yemen. The shirt has clearly been worn in numerous matches, and yes Yemen have been playing in fake Adidas. The quality of the shirt is okay for a fake, but only God knows what is going on with that bizarre pattern that makes it look like all the players have been run over. I always had slight doubts over my previous Yemen shirts, but now that I know the first team wear fakes, perhaps the Umbro ones are official afterall.
Turkmenistan
Turkmenistan – Home – 2013
Another very rare match worn shirt here, and the first ‘new’ addition to the collection in quite a long time. This shirt design is the first to feature the new crest. I have yet to find a photo of this shirt from the match that it was wworn in, and you can see that the lettering differs sligthly from the match photo at the top. I have found photos from a youth game with the lettering matching, but this was from before the FA’s crest had been applied to the shirts.
It seems likely that the shirt was worn in a youth (or women’s?) game since the shirt has been stitched at the sides to make it smaller.
Mauritius
Mauritius – Home – 2013
This Mauritius shirt was obtained from a kit man after the 3-0 friendly defeat to Qatar via another collector. I had never been entirely happy with my Mauritius shirt due to the lack of photos of the Mauritius national team, so was delighted when I had to opportunity to add this rare African shirt to my collection. It wasn’t cheap, so thanks to all those collector who bid on my ebay items in order to raise the necessary funds!
Canada
Canada – GK – 1983
I believe that this shirt may have been worn by goalkeeper Tino Lettieri in the CONCACAF Championships vs Mexico in 1981. However, I can only find a photo of him from the back. However to be 100% sure I would need to match the crest.
Democratic Republic of Congo
DR Congo – Home – 2013
I have been after this wonderful DR Congo shirt since it was released well over a year ago. I have the previous design which like this shirt features the DRC flag, only this time Erre have used the correct shade of blue. Once again they have played about with the crest meaning that I now have three different DR Congo shirts, featuring three different crests.
I have been following the fortunes of the Democratic Republic of Congo ever since my home club Peterborough United signed Gabriel Zakuani from Fulham. When Les Leopards qualified for the 2013 African Cup of Nations Zakuani became the first ever Posh player to feature at a major international tourament. Despite going out in the group stages, they were close runners for kit of the tournament alongside Cape Verde and Niger.
I am hopeful that I will soon be stocking these in my online shop, so do keep an eye out!
At first I thought that these logos were just poorly printed, but on closer inspection they look like some sort of 3D effect.
